Message from New President - Carol Hart

Carol Hart

Dear NJ Chapter Members,

I would like to thank the membership for electing me President and allowing me the opportunity to lead the chapter.  I am excited to take on this leadership role, and recognize the responsibility that comes with the position.   You have also given me the opportunity to work with what I know will be an outstanding Board of Directors that includes Joe Wyatt, 1st Vice President, Liz McKevitt , 2nd Vice President, Caroline Shelly, Secretary, Dan Beck, Treasurer, and Paul Maloney, Immediate Past President.  Please follow the links on the website to see the biographies of the Board members.

We are all aware of the rather gloomy commercial real estate market that we currently face in NJ. Facility managers are under intense pressure to reduce operating expenses, with little or no reduction in service levels. Capital projects are being postponed (again!) and maintenance deferred.  We are being asked to cut staff, and squeeze our service providers a little more.  We are working longer hours, and are worried about our jobs.  Here’s what IFMA should be doing for you:
•    Provide information on products and services that can help you sensibly reduce your operating expenses.
•     Provide a forum for you to share best practices with your peers, and stay informed on trends that affect our industry.
•    Provide opportunities for you to visit other facilities and network with their operators.
•    Provide educational opportunities that benefit you personally, as well as make you a more valuable employee.

At NJ IFMA, we do all those things, but there’s always room to improve and do more.  That will be our goal for this year – continue the momentum established by the prior Board and work hard to make our chapter the best it can be.

Your time is valuable, and we know we need to earn your participation by offering quality programs and events.    I speak for the Board and Committees that we will work hard to achieve that goal.  We appreciate, and request, your feedback and suggestions.
Thank you again for your support and confidence as we begin another year.

 Sincerely,

 Carol Hart, RPA
