NJ IFMA's New Intiative to Reach out to Women in FM

On November 30, 2011, 13 women of the chapter gathered for the inaugural meeting of NJ IFMA’s Women in FM initiative. To my surprise, 10 minutes after the meeting ended, no one had left – all were still in their seats talking with the others at their table. SUCCESS! After introductions, we had an open discussion about open work environments and their pros and cons, mentoring, giving and receiving feedback, and some of the challenges we tackle every day. The time flew by. There was a unanimous decision by the group to meet again, probably in February. Here’s some of their comments:
Denise Dunchus, Johnson Controls: I found this a worthwhile event. The variety of backgrounds of the individuals and also the discussions were very interesting!
Nancy Morgan, Morgan + Associates: Ladies, I enjoyed meeting you all and left the meeting with a feeling that I would love to keep meeting with you all. It is great to know how much everyone loves our crazy world.
Dolores Mohr, Markel: Great to meet everyone. I’m impressed with the level of professionalism, knowledge and the willingness to share it. Great mentors! Girl power!
Marla Freeman, Parker Interior Plantscapes: I thoroughly enjoyed it as well! Looking forward to the next one.
Izabela Pelszynska, Securitas Security Services USA, Inc.: Yes I also agree. It was such a great event. Looking forward to February’s meeting…
Ruth Ann Parronchi, Duke Farms Foundation: I looked forward to the meeting today and I was not disappointed! We needed more time! I still would like to meet again before February possibly monthly. We have so many topics to discuss.
Thanks to all the participants! I enjoyed all your input tremendously and am excited for our next meeting. |
